Wed, March 26th with Jeff Pevar - March 25, 2008

On WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26th, I have the real pleasure of being joined by the magnificent guitarist and my great friend JEFF PEVAR. We have played together for over 20 years, and aside from his work with CS&N, Rickee Lee Jones, Ray Charles, Joe Cocker and many others, he is the only musician who has played on every record I have ever made. Jeff is featured prominently on my new IMMERGENT RECORDS CD, which will be released later this spring. We always have a great time playing, please join us next Wednesday for a beautiful sunset, excellent food and some great music.

Sunset Gig - February 22, 2008
The weekly gig at The Sunset Restaurant in Malibu is turning into a great hang. This week I was joined by my friend Grammy winning producer/keyboard player Peter Wolf, drummer Jack Irons (Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chile Peppers) bassist Dion (George Michael, Elton John), percussionist Rich Martinez, and my friend Suzanne Paris on vocals. Look for future gigs with Chris Cornell guitarist Yogi, and my friend and favorite guitarist Jeff Pevar.
Charlie Haden joins us for the Jeff Bridges project - February 4, 2008
We've gotten carried away, many fun hours in the studio for the "Crazy Heart" sessions. A real treat as the legendary bassist Charlie Haden joined us for some tunes, harkening back to his traditional country roots in Missouri. ( a little intimidating as I have to play dobro after Charlie's recent sessions with Jerry Douglas ) In other news, Chad Smith, drummer from the Red Hot Chile Peppers, sat in at The Sunset Restaurant, my weekly gig in Malibu. Fun was had by all.
Back From Thailand - January 28, 2008
I had an amazing trip to Thailand where I hung out with my friends Alan & Emma Kozlowski, and various indigenous creatures.

I went straight to the NAMM show in Anaheim, and right back to work in the studio where I have been recording some great tunes with Jeff Bridges. We brought in Lee Sklar and Russ Kunkel...the greatest rhythm section ever!!!

Nathaniel Kunkel mixes - November 12, 2007
Nathaniel Kunkel is almost done mixing the CD. Nathaniel, who has recently worked with James Taylor, The Police, and Lyle Lovett, is doing a beautiful job. He is finding ways to make the zillion tracks I recorded come to life and speak. Better him than me. We're ALMOST done, started pre-production in January. first session Feb 12th, and the baby is about to be born. I wonder if it's gonna be a boy or a girl. I'll keep you posted.
David Crosby and Jennifer Warnes sing! - September 25, 2007
The great David Crosby came in to sing with the great Jennifer Warnes on "You're Still Here", a song I wrote with James Raymond for the new CD. We recorded it at Alan Kozlowski's magical studio, "On The Path". A VERY special night!
On The Path - August 15, 2007
I've had the great privilege of working at Alan Kozlowski's ON THE PATH STUDIOS for the past few months. We had quite a jam there Friday night to celebrate Alan's wife Emma's birthday.

Jeff Bridges sat in with us. The band was awesome.

That's the Dalai Lama looking over my shoulder!
James Torme - June 25, 2007
I spent the past 2 weeks recording and producing a new CD by jazz.R&B singer James Torme (son of legendary crooner Mel Torme) at On The Path studios with Alan Kozlowski. Mixed with Paul Ericksen, the project came out better than hoped. Keep an eye out, should be released this fall.
Vegas & "The Record" & Famous Blue Raincoat - May 12, 2007
I just returned from Las Vegas, where I performed with "The Outpost Band" at The Alladin-Planet Hollywood. Interesting town...at least I didn't end up on the floor of my hotel a la David Hasselhoff. I am about 75% through the record, and my label, "Immergent Records" is being patient and supportive as I continue to lure amazing talent into the project. Very exciting...stay tuned. We finally finished the Jennifer Warnes/Leonard Cohen CD, 20th Anniversary of Famous Blue Raincoat. It is a beautiful project, should be out July.

Gigging Again - March 8, 2007
For those of you who don’t know, I am thrilled to announce that I have been signed by Immergent records with my band “Steve Postell & The Key”. Our single, “Cards On The Table” will be available March 14, and is the featured theme on the MTV production, “VH1 Celebrity Rockstar Poker Tournament”, which begins airing on March 14th as well. The album will feature some very special guest performances. I am taking a one day break from recording to perform this weekend an acoustic duo with legendary guitarist BUZZY FEITEN. Replacing Michael Bloomfield in The Paul Butterfield Blues Band at age 19, Buzzy’s illustrious career has seen him playing with Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Rickie Lee Jones, and many, many more.
I hope to see you there, and please keep an eye out for the new record.

NAMM 2007 - January 24, 2007
The NAMM show this year was pretty awesome. I played with JEFF PEVAR, HARVEY BROOKS and ROB GOTTFRIED for FUCHS amps. Ran into friends and legends. But the highlight for me was sitting around a hotel suite, playing beautiful A DAVIS guitars with PEVAR and LITTLE FEAT"S PAUL BARRERE. and singing "Missing You", one of my alltime favorite Little Feat tunes. BIG NEWS COMING SOON!! stay posted

Leonard Cohen, Jennifer Warnes & Mona Liza - November 16, 2006
Lots going on these days. The Jennifer Warnes/Leonard Cohen CD "20th Anniversary of Famous Blue Raincoat" is going very well. We spent the day at Leonard's studio shooting footage for the DVD. Very cool! The song I wrote with Joel Derouin "Cards On The Table" has been picked by MTV/VH1 as the theme song for their new show "VH1 celebrity rock poker tournament". It features "Mona Liza" on violins and vocals. I'll be gigging again soon...keep an eye out.
Back from the city - September 14, 2006
Back in LA, the gig at The Cutting Room was a blast, the "Lost Outpost" band gig in Las Vegas went well, interesting town! Saw some great friends in New York, good to be in my home town, but glad to be back in the studio. More news soon.
Birthday Gig - August 21, 2006
On Sept 3rd, 2006, I will have a birthday. I will be xx!@!!0.... let me try that again I will be $$#!X*?0 years old. Gee, some of the number keys seem to be sticking on my computer. Anyway, not knowing exactly what to do with myself, (Ashram in India? Climb a mountain in Tibet?) I called some great friends who happen to be incredible musicians, and asked them to play a gig with me in my hometown of New York City. I know...not very original, but it seems to make the most sense. I've been living in Los Angeles for a couple of years, where I have a great studio with my friend Steve Ferrone, but I was born & raised in Manhattan, will always really be a New Yawker. I played my first gig in the city in 19!x&$// ... there go those keys again! So please come join me and Steve Holly, Marc Shulman, Mike Veseglia, my sister Sue, and other special guests as we play some new and old songs of mine on Sept. 5th, Tuesday night, 7:30pm , The Cutting Room : 19 W.24th Street, New York City
(212) 691-1900
No cakes, no cards, no presents, just come hang out, listen to some tunes...and feel free to tell me how young I look. I hope to see you there,
All the best,
Steve
All Star Aspen Show - August 4, 2006
My friend, Warren Stickney, recently married the lovely Colette at the Aspen Institute on July 29, and he asked me to put together an all-star band. So here we go: I got my great friend Jonny Rosch, whose band "JD & The Straight Shot" is currently touring with "The James Gang" to join us on keyboards, harmonica and lead vocals. Jonny has played with Phoebe Snow, Al Kooper and many others. On drums we had Tom Brechtlein, currently touring with Kenny Loggins as well as Chick Corea, and who has played with Rickee Lee Jones, Eric Johnson and many others. Joining him on bass was his old bandmate from Robben Ford and The Blue Line...Roscoe Beck, who toured last year with The Dixie Chicks and is currently back with Eric Johnson. Just to go all out for the gig we added a second drummer, Joe Pusateri, who has played with Richie Havens, Ramsey Lewis, Mickey Thomas. On keyboards my friend Jay Oliver made the trip, currently touring with Dave Weckle, Jay has played with The Eagles, Jimmy Buffet, and Sheryl Crow. Suzanne Paris, who sings with dave Mason, sang and played acoustic guitar. On guitar, we had my great friend Jeff Pevar, who plays with CS&N, and has toured with everyone from Ray Charles, Joe Cocker, Phil Lesh as well as many others. Our first special guest was legendary guitarist Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, who played with the original bands The Doobie Bros and Steeley Dan (it sent chills when we played Reeling In The Years and he ripped into the opening solo!) And finally, we played an entire set with John Oates, who played original material, a few songs he and I have written together, and some legendary Hall & Oates material. It was a stellar night, and as much fun as the people at the party had, I have to believe we had even more fun on stage. MANY THANKS to everyuone involved. This is why I do this. Hopefully we will re-create this show somewhere again!
Postell/Feiten & Hawaii - June 9, 2006
We officially launched Postell/Feiten, a project with Buzzy and I, at a great gig last week at Trilogy guitars. 2 acoustic guitars and voices, in conversation. Stripped down, raw, gotta love it! Keep an eye out for more from us. Played with the great Michael Ruff in Hawaii, where Suzanne Paris and I traveled for a few gigs. kayaking, Snorkeling, drinking pina coldadas and playig music...not bad.
