I had a terrific time at the Tadasana festival in Santa Monica, April 19 thru 22. I got to perform with C.C. White, Donna DeLory, Steve Ross, and Steve Gold. Here is a cool pic of Steve Gold & The Stoned On Shiva Band.

It has been another year full of music, thank you to my large musical community and family. The year ends with my 4th lesson just released in the On The Path iPad music series, a great NIGHT TRAIN MUSIC CLUB  gig at WitzEnd and many more adventures to come. See you soon in 2012

I finished shooting lesson #4 for the On The Path iPad app. Should be coming out soon. Then I will start editing the lesson I shot with Leland Sklar & Russell Kunkel.

My song "3:35 Coming Through", (which plays when you open this website) just won Best Americana/Roots song at the HOLLYWOOD MUSIC IN MEDIA AWARDS. Very cool, I was totally caught off guard, next time I'll prepare a little something to say!! A BIG part of what makes this song sound so good is the insanely great band on the track: drums, Steve Ferrone / bass, Leland Sklar / keys, Benmont Tench, Peter Adams / percussion, Debra Dobkin / guitars, Robben Ford, Buzzy Feiten /  backing vocals, Gia Ciambotti / Dobro & vocals, me /

I just returned from Joshua Tree where I performed at the Bhaktifest festival with STEVE ROSS. A terrific event, close to 4,000 people. This week is an exciting NTMC at Genghis Cohen with the great TOM FREUND, GIA CIAMBOTTI, and a spectacular. house band.

The Far West Folk Alliance in Irvine CA was a blast. Got to play with many terrific artists and see many more. Had a terrific show with Dan Navarro in Renee Bodie's room, with Kenny Edwards & Amilia Spicer sitting in, as well as other cool shows with Mark Goldberg and Tracy Newman.

Ravi_Pro_Tools.jpgI had the great honor of recording a new piece written by Ravi Shankar and conducted by his daughter Anoushka. This was for a documentary being filmed by my friend Alan Kozlowski, in which we captured the creative process of teaching the music, all the way to the concert at Hollywood Bowl.

Back from very succesful shows with Jennifer Warnes. We also got to fill in for David Lindley at Vancouver Island Musicfest, then hang out with him at Ottawa Bluesfest. Great trip.

Getting ready to play with the great Jeff Pevar at Trilogy Guitars in Playa Del Ray on Sunday. (Check CALENDER for details) Also looking forward to MUSIC @ AXE in Venice on May 5th, with many friends sitting in. see you there. Steve & Pevar
Hey, I finally made People Magazine ... no, I'm not dating Jennifer Aniston! I'm tiny in the background, but it still counts. Sag Awards 2009 Lots of fun gigs coming up, with Jennifer Warnes / with Jeff Pevar / with Amy Raasch / All star band with Steve Ferrone ... keep an eye out in Calender dates.
Just got back from Austin where I recorded a video shoot with "Rob Brandon and The Outpost Band." Here I am on the set.
We all got through NAMM; Jeff Pevar & I played for Bill Asher guitars and had a tiring but great show. Last week I played with the Rock & Roll Fantasy Camp Allstars at the People Magazine Sag Awards party. Great band: Teddy Andreadis (Guns N’ Roses, Alice Cooper), Micky Dolenz (The Monkees), Elliot Easton (The Cars), Mark Hudson (Grammy-winning producer/songwriter for Aerosmith, Ringo Starr, Ozzy Osbourne), Simon Kirke (Bad Company) and Kip Winger (Winger). I got to play "I'm A Believer" with Mickey Dolenz, so life is good. Sat in with the great band "Spoonful" at Cordial the other night. Hear I am concentrating hard with Tariqh Akoni.
Made it through another year! I got my record out in 2008, and ended the year with a great gig at "The Sunset" with the fabulous Ellis Hall and a great cast: Craig Macintyre on drums, Dan Pearson on bass, and guests Heather Waters, Gary Miller and Eric Schwartz. Next up Jeff Pevar and I are performing at NAMM show, Friday & Saturday (Jan 16/17) at 11am and 4pm, for Bill Asher guitars, Booth 1454 in Hall E. Bill makes the beautiful lap steel guitars that Ben Harper plays, and does spectacular work with pickup systems, including all of Jackson Browne's instruments. See you there!
The new CD is available. Go to for CD, itunes for downloads. Look for audiobook "Wake Up To Your Life" by Ken McLeod, which I recorded and produced. New Years Eve with Ellis Haul coming up at The Sunset restaurant. Had a great night playing with Steve Bruton and Jeff Bridges, playing tunes from Jeff's upcoming movie, "Crazy Heart". Have a great Holiday! Here's a pic of me with Richard Thompson rehearsing for McCabes 50th.
Much has happened in the past few weeks. I'm just resurfacing to planet earth. Sept 13, we had a wonderful CD release concert at "Russ & Julie's House Concert" series, we sold out the room and had a great night. (The CD comes out officially October 21) Later in the week I sat in with Michael Chapdelaine at "The Coffee Gallery" and "Trilogy Guitars". Then it was off to Canada for 4 shows with Jennifer Warnes, 2 of which I opened. And capped it off with the 50th anniversary of McCabes show at Royce Hall, where I played with Jennifer Warnes and shared the stage with so many amazing artists, including Jackson Browne, David Lindley, Chrissie Hynde, Richard Thompson, Louden Wainwright and many others.
Bernie Grundman, the MASTER, finished mastering the CD. Today Mel Canlas, (graphic designer for Immergent records) and I finished the packaging design. Goes out tomorrow!! It's almost here... with Bernie Grundman
We shared the headline slot with The Wallflowers at "The Parkland Solstace Festival" in Calgary, Canada. Wallflowers were very cool, nice guys. Jennifer sang beautifully, band rocked. We even got to watch female kickboxers beat the sh*t out of each other. Jeff Pevar (bass, mandolin, lap steel) Chris Caswell (accordian, keys) and moi on guitars.
We had a wonderful night, Friday May 30th, as we kicked off the "On The Path Concert Series", with the lovely Amilia Spicer opening the show, and Vonda Shepard playing a great set of new material. In between I was joined for my set by Jeff Pevar, Peter Adams, Debrah Dobken, Amilia & Little Feat's Paul Barerre. After a few well deserved glasses of wine, the evening ended with a jam session featuring myself, Jeff and Jackson Browne.
On WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26th, I have the real pleasure of being joined by the magnificent guitarist and my great friend JEFF PEVAR. We have played together for over 20 years, and aside from his work with CS&N, Rickee Lee Jones, Ray Charles, Joe Cocker and many others, he is the only musician who has played on every record I have ever made. Jeff is featured prominently on my new IMMERGENT RECORDS CD, which will be released later this spring. We always have a great time playing, please join us next Wednesday for a beautiful sunset, excellent food and some great music. The Sunset Restaurant 6800 Westward Beach Road Malibu, CA 90265 310-589-1007 Wednesday Nights 7pm - 10:30pm
The weekly gig at The Sunset Restaurant in Malibu is turning into a great hang. This week I was joined by my friend Grammy winning producer/keyboard player Peter Wolf, drummer Jack Irons (Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chile Peppers) bassist Dion (George Michael, Elton John), percussionist Rich Martinez, and my friend Suzanne Paris on vocals. Look for future gigs with Chris Cornell guitarist Yogi, and my friend and favorite guitarist Jeff Pevar.
We've gotten carried away, many fun hours in the studio for the "Crazy Heart" sessions. A real treat as the legendary bassist Charlie Haden joined us for some tunes, harkening back to his traditional country roots in Missouri. ( a little intimidating as I have to play dobro after Charlie's recent sessions with Jerry Douglas ) In other news, Chad Smith, drummer from the Red Hot Chile Peppers, sat in at The Sunset Restaurant, my weekly gig in Malibu. Fun was had by all.
I had an amazing trip to Thailand where I hung out with my friends Alan & Emma Kozlowski, and various indigenous creatures. I went straight to the NAMM show in Anaheim, and right back to work in the studio where I have been recording some great tunes with Jeff Bridges. We brought in Lee Sklar and Russ Kunkel...the greatest rhythm section ever!!!
My present to myself for this Holiday season is a finished CD. Now we'll live with it for a few weeks, set a sequence, and have Bernie Grundman master the CD. I'm amazed and honored at the contributions. Here's the final list of guest artists: Vocals: Steve Postell, David Crosby, Jennifer Warnes, John Oates, Paul Barrere, Kip Winger, Gia Ciambotti, Jana Anderson, Michelle Wolf, Dan Navarro, Ellis Haul, Dana Pomfret, Jeff Pevar, Robbie Wykoff, Suzanne Paris, Suzan Postel, T Bone Wolf, David Tedds Guitars: Steve Postell, Jeff Pevar, Robben Ford, Eric Johnson, Buzzy Feiten, Paul Barrere, Waddy Wachtel, Mark Shulman, Michael Chapdelaine, Freebo Keyboards: Benmont Tench, Peter Adams, Peter Wolf, James Raymond, Buzz Feiten, T Bone Wolk (accordian) Drums/Percussion: Steve Ferrone, Debra Dobkin, Stevie DiStanislao Bass: Leland Sklar, Alphonso Johnson, Kip Winger, Freebo, T Bone Wolk, Buzz Feiten, Mark Gorman Strings: The Tosca String Quartet (Ames Asbell, Sara Nelson, Tracey Seeger, Leigh Mahoney) Joel Derouin, Sid Page, Larry Corbett, Matt Funes Horns: Dave...
Nathaniel Kunkel is almost done mixing the CD. Nathaniel, who has recently worked with James Taylor, The Police, and Lyle Lovett, is doing a beautiful job. He is finding ways to make the zillion tracks I recorded come to life and speak. Better him than me. We're ALMOST done, started pre-production in January. first session Feb 12th, and the baby is about to be born. I wonder if it's gonna be a boy or a girl. I'll keep you posted.
The great David Crosby came in to sing with the great Jennifer Warnes on "You're Still Here", a song I wrote with James Raymond for the new CD. We recorded it at Alan Kozlowski's magical studio, "On The Path". A VERY special night!
I've had the great privilege of working at Alan Kozlowski's ON THE PATH STUDIOS for the past few months. We had quite a jam there Friday night to celebrate Alan's wife Emma's birthday. Jeff Bridges sat in with us. The band was awesome. (ex Wings guitarist Laurence Juber, ex Tower Of Power vocalist extraordinare Ellis Haul, Blue Flame bassist Mark Gorman, Tom Petty drummer Steve Ferrone.) That's the Dalai Lama looking over my shoulder!
I spent the past 2 weeks recording and producing a new CD by jazz.R&B singer James Torme (son of legendary crooner Mel Torme) at On The Path studios with Alan Kozlowski. Mixed with Paul Ericksen, the project came out better than hoped. Keep an eye out, should be released this fall.

Our single, “Cards On The Table” will be available March 14, and is the featured theme on the MTV production, “VH1 Celebrity Rockstar Poker Tournament”, which begins airing on March 14th as well. The album will feature some very special guest performances. I am taking a one day break from recording to perform this weekend an acoustic duo with legendary guitarist BUZZY FEITEN. Replacing Michael Bloomfield in The Paul Butterfield Blues Band at age 19, Buzzy’s illustrious career has seen him playing with Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Rickie Lee Jones, and many, many more. I hope to see you there, and please keep an eye out for the new record. We will be performing at: SATURDAY, MARCH 10 8pm BOULEVARD MUSIC 4316 Sepulveda Blvd., Culver...

The NAMM show this year was pretty awesome. I played with JEFF PEVAR, HARVEY BROOKS and ROB GOTTFRIED for FUCHS amps. Ran into friends and legends. But the highlight for me was sitting around a hotel suite, playing beautiful A DAVIS guitars with PEVAR and LITTLE FEAT"S PAUL BARRERE. and singing "Missing You", one of my alltime favorite Little Feat tunes. BIG NEWS COMING SOON!! stay posted Paul Barrere Jeff Pevar Me
Just got back from Austin, Texas, where I recorded at "pedernales" Studios, owned by the great Willie Nelson. Great place. Producing a record for "The Outpost Band". Hung out with Stephan Barber and Eric Johnson...Austin is overflowing with amazing musicians.
Lots going on these days. The Jennifer Warnes/Leonard Cohen CD "20th Anniversary of Famous Blue Raincoat" is going very well. We spent the day at Leonard's studio shooting footage for the DVD. Very cool! The song I wrote with Joel Derouin "Cards On The Table" has been picked by MTV/VH1 as the theme song for their new show "VH1 celebrity rock poker tournament". It features "Mona Liza" on violins and vocals. I'll be gigging again soon...keep an eye out.
Back in LA, the gig at The Cutting Room was a blast, the "Lost Outpost" band gig in Las Vegas went well, interesting town! Saw some great friends in New York, good to be in my home town, but glad to be back in the studio. More news soon.
On Sept 3rd, 2006, I will have a birthday. I will be xx!@!!0.... let me try that again I will be $$#!X*?0 years old. Gee, some of the number keys seem to be sticking on my computer. Anyway, not knowing exactly what to do with myself, (Ashram in India? Climb a mountain in Tibet?) I called some great friends who happen to be incredible musicians, and asked them to play a gig with me in my hometown of New York City. I know...not very original, but it seems to make the most sense. I've been living in Los Angeles for a couple of years, where I have a great studio with my friend Steve Ferrone, but I was born & raised in Manhattan, will always really be a New Yawker. I played my first gig in the city in 19!x&$// ... there go those keys again! So please...
My friend, Warren Stickney, recently married the lovely Colette at the Aspen Institute on July 29, and he asked me to put together an all-star band. So here we go: I got my great friend Jonny Rosch, whose band "JD & The Straight Shot" is currently touring with "The James Gang" to join us on keyboards, harmonica and lead vocals. Jonny has played with Phoebe Snow, Al Kooper and many others. On drums we had Tom Brechtlein, currently touring with Kenny Loggins as well as Chick Corea, and who has played with Rickee Lee Jones, Eric Johnson and many others. Joining him on bass was his old bandmate from Robben Ford and The Blue Line...Roscoe Beck, who toured last year with The Dixie Chicks and is currently back with Eric Johnson. Just to go all out for the gig we added a second drummer, Joe Pusateri, who has played...
We officially launched Postell/Feiten, a project with Buzzy and I, at a great gig last week at Trilogy guitars. 2 acoustic guitars and voices, in conversation. Stripped down, raw, gotta love it! Keep an eye out for more from us. On keyboards and sharing vocals with me is one of my all time favorite musicians, Jeff Young, who has just returned from a world tour with Donald Fagen, and is a regular member of the Jackson Browne band. On bass will be Jorgen Carlsson who has played with Dishwalla, and expect special guests. The show is 9pm until 11pm, and is located in The Loews Hotel on Pico and Beverwil (a few blocks west of Beverly Drive). This should be a really fun show...I hope to see you there.
Last night we finished out the month of Tuesdays at Fais Do Do with Freebo & Friends. It was the best show yet, hopefully we'll find another venue to continue this show with Freebo, Shane Fontayne, Mark Goldenberg,Dave Macalvy and myself. Lots of guitars...actually listening to each other! I'll keep you posted.
I've had quite a few weeks, making music with some of the very best. This is why I came to LA, and I couldn't be happier. What a great gig I had Sunday with Steve. He brought his Texas thang to the Acoustic Sunset Series. Keep an eye out for the next one.
We had a wonderful time on Sunday at Trilogy Guitars as part of the Acoustic Sunset Series, playing a show to promote my new CD, "Until You Get Here". Jeff Pevar, Joel Derouin, Peter Adams...doesn't get any better than that! Keep an eye out for DEC 4th gig at Trilogy with the wonderful Stephan Bruton.
Steve Ferrone, John & I just recorded some blues cues for BMG/Killer Trax. This was so much fun I'm posting some of them on the music page. I got to play Sam's old '67 Fender P bass as well! Getting ready for Nov 13th gig with Jeff Pevar (who just finished touring with CS&N) and the brilliant violinist Joel Derouin (who is currently touring with Sheryl Crow). New CD countdown...due NOV.6th!
I'm back to 12 hour days in the studio. We're producing 3 very talented young artists: Jack Dill, Erin Toland and Boo Ray. Keep an eye out for them all. Tonight I'm rehearsing with Cassy Denver and the band which incudes CS&N keyboardist James Raymond and Melissa Etheredge bassist Mark Brown for Sunday's gig. Recorded 6 blues tunes for Killer Tracks, that was fun...sorry bass player friends but I love playing bass with Ferrone. 3 weeks until my new CD arives.
The mountains keep calling me back. 15 hours and lots of tunes later I'm here with Casey Waldman & Cassy Denver where we will perform at John Denver's Windstar Symposium this Friday (Snowmass Conference Center) Drive was smooth, can always fall back on my driving skills if this music thing doesn't pan out!

John Jones & I finally finished mixing the Rock School kids song "Zombie Love". Sounds great, future rock stars! I'll post it soon. Neil Peart (legendary drummer for Rush) was in the studio this week recording his part for the animation "Aqua Team Hunger Force". Almost done with new CD, thrilled to be working on a project with Jennifer Warnes, staying out of trouble. (I think)
I'm back to the studio after a terrific weekend of gigs with my friends Dana Pomfret and Freebo. Keb Mo was in this morning, he's producing one of my favorite bands, The Subdudes. Ferrone played a couple of drum tracks on that record, then played the most groovin' tracks on a couple of Motown style songs my buddy Steve Lang and I wrote for Kid Gloves Music. JJ got killer drum sounds using Phoenix plug-ins.
16 hours and 1 blowout later, I'm back home from Colorado. Off to the studio to say hello to partner Steve Ferrone before his Tom Petty gig tonight. I'll be rehearsing for Cassy Denver gig Sat. night at Zoey's in Ventura. Jack Dill, the artist we're producing, will be opening the show. See you there.
I just got back from Colorado with Freebo, where we taught "The Real School Of Rock". John Oates came by and talked to the kids, we played "She's Gone" for them. Freebo and I performed a house concert in the extraordinary studio of artists James Surls and Charmaine Locke. The kids did a great job and wrote a hit song called "Zombie Love". Keep an eye on the charts!
Today we finish up "The Real School Of Rock". We'll do the last bit of recording, and the kids will perform their original song "Zombie Love" for the parents. It's been a great experience, we hope to do it again.
